Amazon Studios has canceled its series order for The After.
Along with Bosch (which recently wrapped production on its freshman run), Transparent (already renewed for season 2), the recently released Mozart in the Jungle and others, The After received a green light from Amazon back in March, after its pilot received positive reaction via the streaming service's unique preview process. Only the pilot wound up produced, however.
"We have decided to not move forward with The After," Amazon Studios VP Roy Price said in a statement. "We would like to thank Chris Carter, the phenomenal cast, crew and producers for all their efforts."
Fuuuuck... I just watched the pilot, hoping there was more, now I'm screwed until next year?! I'm curious if the demon dude is the same as the wolf that darted away as they ran into the woods or if it's something different. Regardless, I'm excited.
The After was first announced in August 2013, breaking creator Chris Carter's 11-year absence from television after the conclusion of The X-Files. The pilot was originally made available on Amazon on February 6, 2014 and viewers were able to asses the final product and offer feedback before the studio made a final decision about a series pick-up. The After subsequently received an eight episode order for the first season, which will premiere in 2015. Carter has stated that he hopes the series will run for a total of 99 episodes, and that he has used Dante Alighieri's epic poem The Divine Comedy (which features exactly 99 cantos) as his model for the show
The pilot of this show was great. I'm looking forward to it running it's first season. @Soummii this and another show were put out to see which one would be voted on to be picked up for a full season and this show one so look forward to a possible release in the Fall 2014 or Winter 2015.
Not cancelled. Amazon picked up to series. This year and last, Amazon has released a bunch of pilots and decided which ones to pick up based on viewer feedback and ratings. The reason for the delay is that the pilot was the only episode filmed. Any more would be a waste of money. A bit of a delay between the pilot episode and the series proper is not uncommon.
I really don't like Amazon, it's killing the edition's world; bookshop, autore and libraries. But I like this pilot a lot and want to see it becoming a real serie. It's the director of X-files. It's can't turn bad, guys ! But really !! Why is it up to "amazon" to decide of it's futur?? He won't promote one because it's interesting but one that he will be sure to make money with...sadly...
I quite liked it, the fact that they left it mysterious is intriguing , I would love to see more,I just heard that this is a testing pilot and there is a vote at AmazonOriginals, so if you like it vote for it
I thought it was interesting. Yes, there were a few issues and it seemed a bit rushed. We don't find out what's really going on but that's the point. It was not an oversight. It could be aliens or the rapture or revelations. It's all questions and no answers.
We also get to see Arielle Kebbel naked or it make have been a stunt body but it was still nice.
