goddamn there was blood all over the door how can two police men didn't see it ? although i'm glad they didn't find the dead body that asshole deserve what he get. Norman's mother is annoying as hell but even her being raped made wanna cut off his head...

LOVE IT! At first I was kinda annoyed at Norma Bates for making her son feel guilty for joining track, but after what she has been through in this episode I'm gonna let it slide and not label her as a bad mother... YET. Nicola Peltz is awesome loved her as Katara in the Avatar the Last Airbender movie. Norman is kinda cute.

Ahhhh! I'm so excited to finally be able to sit down and watch this! After watching the pilot it's def going to be a marathon day!

Bates hotel really steped it up on thier pilot, now i can finally stop wasting my time on defiance now that i have this to watch,...... the only thing that was fake was that those high schools girls would never be that nice to him

Very compelling pilot! everything was really well done.

With Dexter heading for its last season, this will be a great replacement. -
Wow, fantastic first episode! I agree I'm a little confused about how it appears the show is set back in the 60's or 70's but with iPhones etc but the episode was too good to make a difference. I love Normans unusual character also and can't wait to see where the remaining episodes take us!

WOW good episode. I liked it so I'll definitely check out the rest of the season to catch up :)

Loved it from start to finish!! This may be my new favorite show~~

Haven't watched as of now, but hope it's good...again...it's a issue of good links...and some decent film work.

Angiee, if you go to the website for the show, there are links to extra features. One of them interviews the woman in charge of choosing the wardrobe and she explains things. Essentially, they wanted to keep the feeling that it's related to the movie's tiem frame while keeping it in a modern setting.

I liked the show but was confused about why they looked like they were from the past but had cell phones as well.....other than that a solid start.

I absolutely LOVE the concept of this show! And I'm surprised no one thought of it earlier. I agree...the scenes felt VERY real and they definitely succeeded in re-creating the atmosphere from the movie. Can't wait to see more...only can't do it alone again! lol too creepy

I like this....

@RossCreations...in regards to the scene you were talking about...it was almost as bad as watching that scene from Irreversible! That was awful!
@RossCreations ; Agreed 100% Ik for sure I'm going to be hooked to this show, hope the rest of the show is as good as the pilot or even better!

can't wait to find out :) -
This is how pilots should start on all shows! There was so much depth in the characters I thought I was there with them. (Not trying to spoil a scene for the new comers) but that scene with Norma and the fat man had my stomach in knots! When the viewer feels like he is in the screen watching it happen that's how you know it's gold! I am truly looking forward to the rest of the series.

Talk about some serious emotional abuse going with Norma and mother dearest?! This show is definitely interesting and twisted in all the right ways. I look forward to the next episode. Who would have thought this classic movie would make a good series?...

awesome show, cant wait till next episode.

@leopurrincess...that's what I'm sayin'! Why would she have stuff on the stove cooking...boiling over...and be all like la-de-da..I'm gonna go take a shower??? She did it. Why do you think Norman (later on) dresses up like his mother in order to kill? That's who he learned from, partially. That book has been giving him ideas too..obviously...by watching the last few minutes.

Enjoyed, was better than I thought it would be, very dark.

Loved the first episode....But I'm sooooo confused about the beginning. Did the father commit suicide or did Mrs. Norma Bates kill him? She didn't seem phased at all when Norman was completely frantic!! #tottallyconfused

Was it just me, or did Norma kill her husband in the first 2 minutes?

Loved this pilot. They did a good job maintaining the same eeriness that was found in the original Hitchcock movie..can't wait to see more.

for those interested here's an article about this great new show: http://www.canada.com/entertainment/Rain+City+adds+just+right+amount+dread+Bates+Motel/7784644/story.html

@/Mattvzk Yes, Norman's behavior is 'normal' in his case. If you've ever watched The Psycho movies, he's still very odd as an adult. This is supposed to be a look into his formative years (if you can call it that lol). The house is not the original nor is the motel, as the majority of these elements are part of the tour at Universal Studio. Everything was recreated in Vancouver City, Canada

I enjoyed the premiere but I have no knowledge of Norman Bates the first and last time I heard it was on Smallville and it stuck in my head lol also I noticed it's the fairy from Once Upon A Time and the sherriff is the guy from Lost who doesn't age and looks like he wears eye-liner. I find it kinda awkward to watch the way Norman acts or is that the way he is suppose to act? The rape scene made me cringe but glad Norman saved her in time. I looked up some images of Norman Bates and I saw a house in black & white are they using the same house?

not sure how i'm feeling about the show. it's supposed to be a "contemporary" telling of Normans past with his mother, but the clothing, the atmosphere, the way ppl interact in the show feels like it is taking place in the late 60's early 70's just with cellphones thrown in and so far the cellphones have been used to only move the show along (ie: the texting). The acting is sound, and the idea of the show is good; I hope it does well.

Amazing pilot, I absolutely loved it.

@HeartAttack: Because pilots tend to release somewhere early. Typically they show it for a limited time on the networks website, hulu, etc. I remember Hulu did the same thing with NBC's Deception back in December even though it premiered on NBC January.

Good pilot! got me hooked right away!!
