The first look at The Last Jedi has arrived at the Star Wars Celebration two days ago, where Lucasfilm debuted the trailer for for the long-awaited sequel to The Force Awakens.

This brief teaser brings enough information to keep us and the entire social media realm going for a while. Much of the action is set on Ahch-To, the planet that Rey discovered Luke on at the end of the previous film, and it appears that she’s spending some time there training.

The most shocking element of the Last Jedi trailer, VOX thinks, involves Luke Skywalker’s (Mark Hamill) ominous words in the trailer’s final moments. “I only know one true thing,” Skywalker says. “It’s time for the Jedi to end.”

In addition to Rey and Luke, we can briefly see Finn in a pod, Poe Dameron running to his fighter, which is caught in an explosion, and a couple of big battles: one on the ground against what looks like First Order Walkers, and a dogfight between X-Wings and TIE fighters.

The trailer is our first look at The Last Jedi, and it looks like it’s picking up from The Force Awakens with just as much energy and action, teasing what looks like some game-changing developments with one of the franchises’s fundamental elements: The Force and Jedi themselves. (via The Verge)

"The history of Star Wars has seen almost as much conflict between director and cast as between the dark and light sides of the Force. Harrison Ford once told George Lucas that the film-maker had no skill for writing dialogue while filming the original trilogy, and Mark Hamill has spent most of the past two years cheekily pointing out the errors he believes were made in 2015’s The Force Awakens. [...] Many fans have suggested that the trailer is employing sleight-of-hand to make it seem as if Skywalker is speaking, when the line is in fact being uttered by someone more logically ill-disposed towards the Jedi: Kylo Ren, perhaps, or even Supreme Leader Snoke. But Hamill confirmed in the same ABC interview that his voice is the one that can be heard." (The Guardian) Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens on December 15.
