James Franco in THE VAULT, new horror in town

You might have heard that James Franco can't get himself some time off from making films or side creative projects. The Vault is his latest project, aside from The Disaster Artist and HBO's The Deuce, and it just received a brand new trailer.

The hybrid heist thriller and horror is directed by Dan Bush (The Signal) and co-stars Taryn Manning (Orange Is The New Black, 8 Mile), Francesca Eastwood (FX’s Fargo) and Scott Haze (Midnight Special). The heist begins smoothly, nothing we haven't seen before, but the craziness makes its way into the narrative when the defiant bank manager (Franco) sends them to a basement-level vault, which, it turns out, is home to something truly evil. As accustomed in horror trailers, we don't see the face of evil, but we hear the people screaming. Franco wears a mustache in this one.

The official synopsis reads:

In order to save their brother Michael’s life, the Dillon sisters, Leah and Vee have organised a bank robbery, but when the upstairs vault doesn’t have enough money to cover Michael’s debt, on the advice of Assistant Bank Manager Ed Maas, they drill into the downstairs vault. But the bank’s basement hides a terrible secret and before long, the Dillons have to choose whether to face the police outside or the terrible supernatural forces in the vault below.

Indie studio FilmRise is releasing The Vault in select theaters and on demand, September 1, and it will get to UK on September 8.

“We are thrilled to be releasing ‘The Vault,” a terrifying thriller that is sure to keep audiences on the edge of their seats,” said FilmRise CEO Danny Fisher. “Performances across the board are exceptional, including James Franco and Taryn Manning.”

Franco has been doing a lot of things lately, including directing the new biographical film, The Disaster Artist, which tells the true story about the making of "The Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made”. The new trailer for James Franco and Seth Rogen‘s latest film has been released and you can watch the clip below. The two actors have worked together on This Is The End and The Interview, and have now reunited for this new project.

The Disaster Artist tells the true story of the making of the 2003 cult film The Room, which has been called “The Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made”. Based on actor Greg Sestero’s non-fiction account of the same name, Franco stars as actor, writer and director Tommy Wiseau, who made The Room.

Franco’s brother Dave stars as Sestero, while Rogen plays script supervisor Sandy Schklair. Zac Efron, Sharon Stone and Hannibal Buress are also among the cast for the upcoming comedy-drama.

The film will be released on December 1.
