First look at PREDATOR

The first teaser trailer for Shane Black's The Predator is here and there's a bunch of cool faces in the new crew. Watch the clip below.

The Predator, from 20th Century Fox, was co-written by Black with Fred Dekker, and features Holbrook, Tremblay, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey and Yvonne Strahovski. The movie is produced by John Davis and it's based on characters created by Jim Thomas & John Thomas.

The official synopsis reads:

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

"Tell me about the mission – did you see anything unusual?”

Based on the description of the plot that has been released, the kid (Jacob Tremblay) playing with the alien tech brings the creature "back" to Earth. As the kid plays with the mini-replica, we see the real thing heading our way.

We also learn that the new Predator has been upgraded from the earlier ones we've seen as the species has begun to take aspects of other aliens that it finds useful and has incorporated that into itself. This will give the alien hunter new weapons and abilities.

“I think they’re attempting hybridization, they’re upgrading on every planet they visit,” Olivia Munn’s character says as she works in a science lab.

The Predator isn't a reboot of the franchise which was released in 1987, but a direct sequel to previous films in the series. The original Predator was directed by John McTiernan and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, and Jesse Ventura as commandos attempting to rescue hostages while being stalked in a jungle in Central America by a fearsome extra-terrestrial, played by Kevin Peter Hall. This will be the forth film in the “Predator” franchise, following Predator 2 in 1990 and Predators in 2010.

Check out the teaser above. The Predator hits theaters on September 14.
