Ferrell and Poehler in THE HOUSE

Get ready for a couple of lunatic parents and their soon-to-be double life of crime. The House starring Will Ferrell (Anchorman) and Amy Poehler (Saturday Night Live, Parks and Recreation) is here and it looks like fun from what the New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. trailer offers.

The writers of Neighbors and Mike And Dave Need Wedding Date, Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O’Brien, have joined forces once again, this time with Ferrell and Poehler playing two seemingly normal parents who become desperate to get enough money in order to send their only daughter to college. Jason Mantzoukas serves as the catalyst for this totally outlandish and unrealistic idea, and he looks like he’s going to be the MVP in this entire endeavor. You might have seen him in The League, playing Rafi, the craziest and filthiest of characters.

The official synopsis of The House reads:

After Scott and Kate Johansen (Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler) lose their daughter Alex’s college fund, they become desperate to earn it back so she can pursue her dream of attending a university. With the help of their neighbor Frank (Jason Mantzoukas), they decide to start an illegal casino in the basement of his house.

The rest of the cast of The House include Allison Tolman (Fargo) playing our main characters’ financial advisor, Rob Huebel playing a police officer, and Lennon Parham (Veep) playing a woman who gets a little too caught up in the Las Vegas lifestyle that emerges in the neighborhood. After all, we're back in the realm of boredom, where people always find a way to bring crazy into their lives.

Moreover, you'll get to see appearances by Rory Scovel and Nick Kroll, and Kyle Kinane is supposed to pop up at some point as well, and Sam Richardson (also from Veep) too. Other supporting cast members include Andrea Savage, Michaela Watkins and Steve Zissis, seen losing part of his hand there at the end.

You might want to check out Casino in the meantime, to get a deeper laugh.

The House, directed by co-writer Andrew J. Cohen, opens in theaters everywhere on June 30.
