For all you Futurama fans out there, good news ahead! The highly anticipated adult animated Netflix series, Disenchantment, now has a teaser trailer which you can watch below.

The 10-episode series is set to premiere on the streaming service on August 17, 2018 and comes from Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons and cult-hit Futurama. The show, billed as “an adult fantasy about a crumbling medieval kingdom known as Dreamland”, marks Groening’s first new project in nearly two decades, since Futurama premiered in 1999.

Viewers will be taken away to the aforementioned medieval kingdom of Dreamland, where they will follow the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci. Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools.

“Welcome to Dreamland,” the voice over says as it cuts to the interior of a castle’s throne room. A hooded character is led into the room flanked by two smaller creatures wearing burlap sacks over their heads and a guard dressed like a modern policeman. A king berates the figure’s appearances with a voice made famous by John Dimaggio’s work as Bender on “Futurama.”

In a statement last summer, Groening described the show, which has been picked up for 20 episodes, as a show “about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you”. (via The Guardian)

The series will feature the voice talents of Abbi Jacobson (Broad City) as Bean, Nat Faxon (Tammy) as Elfo and Eric Andre (The Lion King) as Luci. They will be joined by John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery.

The animation for Disenchantment will be done by Rough Draft Studios (Futurama). Disenchantment is produced by The ULULU Company for Netflix, with Groening and Josh Weinstein (The Simpsons, Futurama) serving as executive producers.

Disenchantment will be available on Netflix on August 17th.
