DEN OF THIEVES, news heist in town, watch trailer!

Another heist movie is coming our way at the end of next month. STXfilms has released the new Den of Thieves trailer, which you can watch below!

Den of Thieves marks the directorial debut of Christian Gudegast (London Has Fallen, A Man Apart), who is helming from his original screenplay based on a story he co-wrote with Paul Scheuring (Prison Break: The Final Break, A Man Apart).

Gerard Butler (300, Olympus Has Fallen) plays over-the-top cop Nick Flanagan and joins an interesting group of performers including alongside Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (War Dogs, Spy), Pablo Schreiber (13 Hours, The Manchurian Candidate), O’Shea Jackson, Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Evan Jones (A Million Ways to Die in the West, Gangster Squad, 8 Mile), Cooper Anderson (I Hate My Neighbor!), Maurice Compte (A Walk Among Tombstones, End of Watch), Kaiwai Lyman-Mersereau (American Violence, Westworld), Mo McRae (Wild, Thirteen), Meadow Williams (Apollo 13) and Brian Van Holt (Wild, S.W.A.T.). (via Deadline)

The official synopsis reads:

A Los Angeles crime saga in the vein of Heat, Den of Thieves follows the intersecting and often personally connected lives of an elite unit of the LA County Sheriff’s Dept. and the state’s most successful bank robbery crew as the outlaws plan a seemingly impossible heist on the Federal Reserve Bank of downtown Los Angeles.

The Den of Thieves two and a half minutes trailer sees the macho, ego-driven adventures as both the cops and robbers try to psyche each other out before they throw down in the showdown. There might be a fun, intense heist movie for all you heist enthusiasts out there, but let's wait and see.

Until then, Butler's character sums up the movie vibe in one of this lines - “Whoever it is, they’re addicted to heists!”

"In Michael Mann’s crime classic Heat, audiences were treated to an epic tale of cops and robbers, cutting back and forth between Al Pacino as a cop on the edge and Robert De Niro as the head of a crew of highly successful bank robbers. Mann was able to adeptly wave a narrative that showed us two different yet similar worlds. If you ever watched Mann’s Heat and thought, “This movie is pretty good, but what it really needs is some Gerard Butler!”, you’re in luck! The new film Den of Thieves almost looks like a modern-day remake of Heat, with Butler stepping into Al Pacino’s role of a frazzled, on-edge cop tracking a crew of professional criminals. Let’s all watch the trailer, shall we?" (Slashfilm)

The action film opens in theaters on January 19, 2018.
